Giordano Bellincampi Giordano Bellincampi began as chief conductor of Sjællands Symfoniorkester (Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra) in the season of 2000/2001. Since January 1997 he has been the 1st guest conductor of the same orchestra. Since June 1997 he has also been chief conductor of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, Denmark’s leading avant-garde ensemble, which has been Denmark’s new state ensemble since January 2000. Giordano Bellincampi was born in Rome in 1965, but he has been resident in Denmark since 1976. At The Royal Danish Academy of Music he studied the bass trombone with Professor Mogens Andresen and conducting with Jorma Panula. Ballincampi has had an active career as a member of The Royal Danish Orchestra, Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (The Danish Philharmonic Orchestra ,South Jutland), Trondheim Symfoniorkester and The Danish Radio’s Big Band. In August 1994 Giordano Bellincampi made his debut as a conductor with the Odense Symphony Ochestra, who immediately re-engaged him for 7 concerts in January 1995. Bellincampi has subsequently conducted all Danish orchestras on a regular basis. In January 2000 he conducted the Leipzig ballet’s first guest appearance in Aarhus with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. Abroad he has conducted orchestras such as Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Det Norske Radioorkester (The Norwegian Radio Orchestra)N.R.K. in Oslo.
