Live Concert, Tivoli Concert Hall, Copenhagen, August 19, 1957 The Cello © In all three concertos, Bengtsson plays a modern instrument, made in 1935 by the Copenhagen-based J. N. Frost. Today the cello resides in that city’s Royal Academy of Music and is lent to gifted students. Bengtsson likes to recall Nikolai Malko (1883-1961), who conducts the Barber here, and who was closely associated with Danish musical life.
