The new E-3000 borrows it’s design ethos from higher end Accuphase products, it is physically taller than the E-280 and features a larger analogue power meter. There’s nothing quite like watching a backlit VU meter dance while enjoying sonic entertainment, so now you can enjoy it from even further away. The volume and selector rings are gold-plated for that premium knob-feel, and supported by the new RC-260 remote control. Included are all the abnormality detection features you’ve come to expect from Accuphase including DC voltage detection, temperature detection and output over-current to assist with speaker terminal shorting. Improvements to the PCBoard pattern and new low on-resistance MOS switches enhance the damping factor past E-380 specs, for a total high damping factor of 600. Even the tried-and-trusted AAVA volume control has been improved with changes to the parts layout and wiring, and addition of Accuphase Noise and distortion Cancelling Circuit (ANCC), trickled down from the C-2150 preamplifier. The volume pot still has the same weighted but responsive touch and allows precision fine-tuning. While it’s tempting to think of the new E-3000 as a natural progression of the E series, the culmination of feature improvements suggest it has every chance of becoming a giant killer in the integrated amplifier market.
